Frequently asked questions
Have a question you’d like to ask? I’m committed to giving patients the best care and experience I can. There’s no such thing as a bad question when it comes to mental health. Check out the answers to the FAQs below, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any additional questions.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
Yes absolutely. I have a limited number of sliding scale openings for BIPOC and low income clients.
How long will my therapy session be?
In therapy, we refer to the '50 minute hour'--so each session is 50 minutes. That gives us time to review our progress and do some work together.
Which psychotherapeutic techniques do you use?
I use narrative, positive psychology and humanist approaches, plus cognitive behaviour and dialectical behavioural therapies. I'm also pending certification as an Internal Family Systems therapist.
Why see an NP psychotherapist?
I've been a nurse for 20+ years, and specialized in mental health and addictions care for 15 years.
Nursing is one of 5 professions permitted to use the protected title 'psychotherapist'. For more information, please see here.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance plans vary widely according to which providers are included. Please check with your insurance provider to ask if psychotherapy is a benefit. I don't bill insurance directly but will provide a receipt for every visit.
Can I see you if we aren't located in the same province?
I'm licensed and credentialed in Ontario; but can see clients from across Canada.
